The employment unit of Douglas law firm M&P Legal is holding a Manx employment law update seminar on Tuesday 19 June 2018 at the Palace Hotel, Douglas. The seminar will look at some recent labour law developments in the Isle of Man.
Head of M&P Legal employment unit Advocate John Aycock commented as follows:
“We have seen some very interesting local tribunal and court decisions on employment law for instance dealing with how settlement agreements are negotiated, the growing category of ‘worker’ status allied to the gig economy and whistleblowing related claims. In addition to these case law developments, the Isle of Man’s employment market is facing significant new legislation in the Equality Act 2017 and the General Data Protection Regulation. These developments will affect the way human resources departments of Manx employers operate and in turn will affect employees. Our seminar is to keep local employers and employees up to date with the rapidly evolving local labour law scene.”
The speakers comprise highly experienced M&P Legal advocates John Aycock and Chris Brooks, trainee advocate Amelia Quinn and a guest speaker in Julie Bradley, Industrial Relations Officer, with an address from the Isle of Man’s newly appointed Equality Adviser Dawn Kinnish.
The half-day seminar is being held at the Cushag Suite of the Palace Hotel starting at 9.00 am on Tuesday 19 June 2018. You can reserve a place by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling Sandra Burrows on 695800 or by completing the booking form at www.mplegal.im. M&P Legal is ranked in the top category for Isle of Man employment law work by the two leading client directories, Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners and its employment head John Aycock is identified as a leading individual in the field.
