M&P Legal has boosted its legal team by the qualification of a trainee and the addition of a senior consultant.
Amelia Quinn was recently admitted to the Manx bar after a two year training period with M&P Legal. She is now an associate advocate in the firm’s litigation department. Meanwhile Advocate Nigel Cordwell, one of the Island’s most experienced personal injury lawyers, is consulting with M&P Legal to help manage its personal injury caseload. Nigel is a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and has 30 years’ medical law experience in England and the Isle of Man.
Amelia stated that she was hugely pleased and proud to be admitted to the Manx bar. She follows in a family tradition with her father and two of her brothers already qualified as lawyers and working in the Island. “I am really looking forward to developing a litigation practice and appearing in Courts and Tribunals for the firm’s excellent client base,” commented Amelia. In addition Amelia has just qualified as a Data Protection Practitioner having passed the necessary exam at first sitting.
Nigel Cordwell remains in private practice servicing a number of high profile clients while bringing his vast expertise and experience to the M&P Legal team. He stated: “I am impressed with the no nonsense and common sense way M&P Legal goes about its business and I am enjoying being part of its litigation team”. Nigel also brings German language capability to the firm and is admitted in the Republic of Ireland.
The firm’s joint managing director John Aycock, head of litigation, added that this dual development marked an important milestone for the firm. “We continue to grow the firm both organically and by excellent external acquisition. Amelia shows all the right qualities to become an influential courtroom lawyer, whereas Nigel’s ability is known to all within the Manx bar, he is a clear leader in his field. Expanding at both ends of the experience spectrum helps give good balance to the firm,” said John. “It also means we now have lawyers who are qualified in five jurisdictions (Isle of Man, England and Wales, Spain, Republic of Ireland and Turks and Caicos Islands) with language capability in four tongues – English, Spanish, French and German.”
M&P Legal operates from offices in Bucks Road, Douglas and is known for its litigation work, particularly in the personal injury and employment law practice areas.
