In December 2012, M&P Legal Advocate Chris Brooks attended a meeting at the University he graduated from, Magdalene College Cambridge, to discuss and plan the foundation of a society for lawyers who are studying or have studied there. The aim of the society is to foster links between alumni and to mentor younger members of the College by passing on practical knowledge and providing support. The speaker at the dinner afterwards was His Excellency Sir Christopher Greenwood, Magdalene alumnus and judge of the International Court in the Hague.
Magdalene College was originally founded in 1428 but refounded in 1542 by King Henry VIII's Lord Chancellor Lord Audley. The present Master is the Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dr Rowan Williams and the college also counts among its alumni Baron Judge, the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, Sir Andrew Morritt, Chancellor of the High Court of England and Wales and Chris Brooks.
