Patrick is pictured with the First Deemster after receiving his commission. Patrick is head of M&P Legal’s private client team with extensive experience in preparing wills, powers of attorney and estate planning encompassing complexities such as residential care fee planning, trust formation and lifetime settlements. He also advises executors in carrying out their function as administrators of estates and acts as a mental health receiver.
Patrick already has 16 years’ post qualification experience in estate work as an English Solicitor and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He initially qualified as an English Solicitor in 2010 and practised in Lancashire, heading law offices in Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington and Bacup. He moved to the Isle of Man with his family in 2021, working at two other firms of advocates prior to joining M&P Legal in April 2024. He has since developed a network of local connections and regularly visits businesses to signpost staff to obtain the correct legal advice on their private and estate matters. Patrick’s mother is from the Isle of Man and he relished the opportunity to relocate to the island with his own family. Patrick also works with the Hospice, Alzheimer’s Society, Age Concern and other dementia charities giving talks on how lawyers can assist as the Island deals with an increasingly ageing population. Patrick’s principal during his training Advocate John Aycock commented that the firm was very pleased to see Patrick commissioned in the Isle of Man. ‘Congratulations to Patrick on requalifying here and passing his Manx Bar exams first time; we are confident that he will continue to expand our private client offering, he is very passionate about his area of work’.
